The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is a medical institute of Ranchi University, established in 1960, in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, India. It is an autonomous body established under an act of Jharkhand Assembly and is one of the premier medical colleges in the state and India. The Biomedical Informatics Centre, one of the centres of ICMR was established in the department of Biochemistry in February 2014.

Massive amounts of data are being generated for biomedical research purposes using ultra -high-throughput assays and technologies in medical science, gene expression microarrays, proteomics platforms, imaging devices, etc. This wealth of information, especially when combined with medical record databases and other clinical and epidemiological data, create unprecedented opportunities in research.

An effective bioinformatics strategy prevents research organisations from drowning in their data and enables them to extract valuable information from it.

The main objectives are:

To study the association of thyroid functionalities with various disorders
                     Hormonal database design
                     Image Analysis.
Cardiovascular disease and their association with different hormones
To create awareness in people by means of scientific workshop/ research program.
